Theater, with comments, &c. &c. &c. S.l.n. [Geneva, brothers Cramer], 1764. 12 volumes in-8, blond calf, smooth spine decorated with special irons (period binding).
Beautiful edition published and commented by Voltaire, printed by subscription at the Cramer brothers in Geneva. It is illustrated with a frontispiece by Pierre engraved by Watelet and 34 figures by Gravelot.
Curiously, the binding of this copy is decorated on the spine with irons specially designed by Gravelot for the 1768 edition of Le Racine.
The first part of volume I, the false titles and titles of volumes III, V, VI, VII and X have been reported. Stains on the dishes, cracked hinges, two restored. Freckles.
