Set of books and documents on Fernand LEGER including catalogues raisonnés from 1938 to 1957 Frank ELGAR, was very early interested in archaeological and primitive cultures as artists and intellectuals of that time including Paul ELUARD, André BRETON and Tristan TZARA ... One could meet him at the merchants of the Left Bank as well as at the Galerie Carrefour de Pierre VERITE, boulevard Raspail where he could at the time hunt for African, Oceanian, American, Far Eastern and Ancient Greek and Roman objects. This may have been his answer to the influence of these cultures on the arts of the 20th century.
