Pendulum clock with a gilded metal and brass post, ensigned by the Bayard knight in armour holding a shield bearing the inscription "Without fear and without reproach" and his sword, leaning against a pedestal decorated with religious statues, his helmet on the ground. Rectangular base, containing the movement, on a base decorated with scrolls and tournament lances and resting on four winding legs. White enamelled dial, signed "CAILLEUX, rue St Honoré, 136, à Paris", blue painted hour-markers with Roman numerals for the hours and railway markers for the minutes. Key-wound movement, Brocot suspension. Romantic period, second half of the 19th century. 56 x 36 x 13 cm. Gilding wear, oxidation, sword and dial accident, missing glass.
