BAKOU (Caucasus), late 19th century
A sky-blue field covered with stylized trees of life and hourglasses, hosts stylized octagonal entomological forms of ivory, anthracite and brick, as well as gold-lined brick caissons decorated with vegetalized gems. At each end of the carpet, multicoloured "ants" are represented, astonishingly realistic. Large triple, navy and brick border with a succession of Botehs in opposition and small polychrome Kotchaks. Ivory external braid with star-shaped flowers.
