edition of Mathurin Heret's French translation (1518- after 1584).
The Banquet is a Platonic dialogue, written around 380 BC. There are some myths about love and eroticism, including Aristophanes' account of the three original human sexes.
Extremely rare, this edition is missing from the USTC, the Karlsruhe electronic catalogue only locates four institutional copies in Europe (Toulouse Library; BCU Lausanne; Danish National Library; British Library).
A small trace of wetness at first, if not a fine example in its first binding.
