The history of the Renault collection began in 1967, and Régie Renault is developing a pioneering sponsorship program. The collection was built with the help of an art enthusiast, Claude Renard, who, like the American patronage, practiced a "Research, Art and Industry" department within the diamond firm with the agreement of its then president, Pierre Dreyfus.
This department does not acquire art objects but sets up a collaboration between pioneering artists and Renault.
