SAINT JULIEN Painting on panel 26,5 x 33 cm
This Saint Julien is part of a series with a Saint Anthony Abbot on sale at Porro in 2006 (fig.1).
The dimensions and quadrilobal decoration of these two panels are identical. They must have belonged to the same predella, as the horizontal grain of the wood suggests.
To these two panels is added a third, also of the same dimensions, representing a Holy Pope, that Federico Zeri (in his photo library), (fig. 2) attributed to Pietro di Nicola da Orvieto, an Orvieto painter who collaborated with Fra Angelico in the chapel of San Brizio and worked a lot in Perugia
