Important double capital in white marble carved on all sides. Square in plan, it is decorated in two registers: at the first, a race of pampering with a bird pecking a bunch of grapes; at the second, vine leaves and bunches following a moulding; a moulded abacus.
Pyrenees, Comminges, 14th century Height: 43 cm - Length: 55 cm - Depth: 55 cm
(small accidents at the base and at the abacus, drilled with a hole in a corner at the top)
Origin: Emile Pouillon, merchant and marble maker in the northern region of France, between 1920 and 1960, then by descent.
This capital is to be compared to two capitals preserved at the Louvre Museum, catalogued as coming from Comminges (inv. RF 4390, 4454, fig. a and b) Consulted
