Original drawing. Costume for the character of Barbizon in
Aladdin or the wonderful Lamp. 26 x 11.8 cm on laid paper mounted on strong cardboard, watercolour lead and gold paint; under passe-partout with small damage to the details at the top of the drawing.
Beautiful watercolour for this enchanting operetta created at the Théâtre Marigny on May 20, 1919, to a libretto by Georges Gabriel Thenon dit Rip, music by Willy Redstone, choreography by Robert
Quinault, and directed by Gabriel Signoret. Léon
Bakst designed the sets and costumes.
On the back, autographed certificate signed by his niece Berta Klyatchko (wife Tsipkevitch): "I certify that this painting is indeed from the hand of Leon Bakst... Paris, 15-2-60..."
