Several frescoes in a garage by Belgian comic artist Hergé, the creator of the Tintin comics, will be protected. The murals, which contain 35 galloping knights, 52 Native Americans and scouts rope-climbing the frame of the two doors of the room and the chimney, can be admired in the Saint-Boniface Institute in Ixelles.

Xavier Marabout’s parodies feature mashups of Edward Hopper’s paintings with the characters of the Belgian cartoonist's Tintin. But while Hergé chose to depict few women, Marabout places them in an erotic universe, “nothing to do with humour” say the heirs’ lawyers. (Guardian)

Yesterday, the Court of Marseille ordered sculptor Christophe Tixier, alias Peppone, to pay more than €100,000 in damages to SA Moulinsart for counterfeiting. The works in question were his busts representing Tintin, the character created by Hergé in 1929. Tixier’s lawyer says they will appeal the verdict. (Sud Ouest)

Each Thursday from Oct 21 - Nov 20, the digital art center will present an immersive exhibition dedicated to the Belgian hero in parallel with "Cézanne, lumières de Provence.”  The project was created in partnership with Moulinsart, recently renamed Tintinimaginatio, the company that owns the rights to Hergé’s works.

The 1936 painting was gifted by the cartoonist Hergé to Tintin-publisher Jean-Louis Casterman. It sold for €3.2 M at Artcurial yesterday, becoming the world’s most expensive comic book artwork – a record previously held by a collection of original ink drawings for the series, which sold for €2.51 M.

The 1936 painting of the French comic book hero was gifted by Hergé, the cartoonist behind the series, to Tintin-publisher Jean-Louis Casterman. It had been left folded up in a drawer for years before being put up for sale in Paris today  – it is estimated at between €2.2 M and €2.8 M.

The SAB Expo (Septembre Animalier Bruxelles) is back for its eighth edition, from Friday, September 23 to Sunday, September 25, at the Costermans Gallery in Place du Grand Sablon.

The gallery owner and collector, born in Paris in 1936, died quietly on 16 September at 84, to the relative indifference of the media.

This new event will take place on the Champs-Élysées near the Grand Palais. The first one will focus on legendary dealer Alexandre Iolas.
