A perfectly minted silver coin from the third century BCE, featuring a Greek profile, recalls the syncretic culture of the great city of Carthage, then at the height of its power.

For three decades—from about 1930 to 1960—this soon-to-be-dispersed collection of seventy-two Greek silver coins was patiently collected by two generations of the same French family. Very discerning, these connoisseurs bought only at prestigious sales or through the best Parisian brokers.
