This torchère illuminated the most brilliant minds of her time, who would meet in Juliette Récamier 's room, where she held a salon. The Merveilleuse also contributed to the spread of the "Etruscan" style as one of the first to fall in love with it, and she even dressed in the "Greek mode”. She was the leading advocate of this passion for classical antiquity, which became widespread during the Empire.
