Caland spent her first 39 years in Beirut before moving to Paris to pursue a career as an artist, resulting in a unique style mixing elements of Middle-Eastern design with European minimalism. Most recently her work, which often portrayed her interest in the female body, was displayed in a retrospective at Tate St-Ives.
