Rare posters, paintings, Japanese prints, photographs, costumes and objects from the circus world make up the Rouen couple’s unique collection, which has won international recognition.

Your collection is unlike any other: when and how did you start it? We began with modest budgets before we were 20. Passion, tenacity and expertise acquired over the years allowed us to assemble a comprehensive overview of circus-related art. Our collection brings together all sorts of artworks and objects, most of which have been chosen with the utmost care. The thrill you feel the first time you see something often awakens the desire to own it, but we’ve always been attentive to the color, quality, story, dream and poetic rendering of the circus atmosphere. While the collection reflects our tastes, we’re not looking for any particular style or a circumscribed cultural area. It’s a whole that has been assembled step by step for 50 years, open to the world of the circus. When did your passion start? When I was six, I saw the Amar Circus in the port of Bône, Algeria (Annaba).
