What are a few of your favorite objects in the collection? Such a difficult question. Having been at Avery only a year —and what a year it has been! —I still have much to explore in the stacks and vaults. The Art Properties' collection of contemporary Inuit sculpture is an absolute joy to take in. Long before the major Frank Lloyd Wright Archive landed at Avery, our Drawings & Archives department acquired a set of renderings and sketches from the period of his employment with Louis Sullivan and it’s thrilling to Wright’s annotations of his master’s designs.
