Rattan comes from various species of palm trees in Southeast Asia, especially the Philippines and Indonesia. Its sturdy vines can be twisted without breaking. In the 1950s and 1960s, it brightened up country houses. Today, rattan adds a more chic retro touch to city interiors in need of a breath of fresh air. Natural materials are in style. Alongside now-classic “sunburst” mirrors, chairs and sofas are adorned with cushions featuring trendy tropical designs. The daring can round out suites with tables and chests of drawers. Prices have risen in the past few years but remain affordable. This is an opportunity to discover rattan creations by the greatest French, Italian and Danish designers.
Prices include buyer’s premium and commission.
