Art Market Overview: Singapore Gets Stronger with Art SG

The first edition of Art SG, which is expected to become South-East Asia’s leading fair, will take place in Singapore from January 12 to 15, 2023. The 150 participating galleries include Gagosian, David Zwirner, Karsten Greve, Pace, Thaddaeus Ropac and White Cube, a strong signal for the city-state that aims to become a strategic place in the global art market. Singapore, Asia’s third-largest financial market behind Hong Kong and Shanghai, boasts one of the world’s highest GDPs per capita. Artprice recalls that the art market’s growth there follows the region’s overall pattern. Bids in South Korea have soared by 310% in two years. Last summer, Sotheby’s first Singapore sale netted the equivalent of $18M, a promising result.
