According to the 2020 report of the CVV (France's Voluntary Sales Council), the "arts and antiques" sector still represents 60% of sales in the "art and collectibles" sector.

However, it recorded its biggest drop in 2020, falling from €1 Bn to €723 M. The sector was still dominated by "post-war and contemporary art", though its share also went down to 24% from 26% in 2019. The share of "Asian art, traditional African, Oceanic and South American arts and archaeology" rose from 13% to 15% in 2020. "Old Masters, sculptures and 19th-century art", representing 10% of the "arts and antiques" sector, posted its heaviest decrease in 2020. Down from €137 million to €71 million, this category saw its sales fall by almost 50% in the last year alone. It was also the category that suffered most from the pandemic.
