Henri-Auguste Fourdinois (1830-1907) and probably Victor Paillard (1805-1886), occasional table in darkened wood featuring "Boulle" marquetry in tortoiseshell and brass and chased gilt bronze ornamentation, stamped Fourdinois beneath a crosspiece, 80 x 164 x 94 cm/31.5 x 64.6 x 37 in.

The term "pastiche" is hardly appropriate for this occasional table by Henri-Auguste Fourdinois. The Parisian cabinetmaker, who ran the family business from 1867 to 1887, demonstrated all his expertise in this piece evoking the best of the neo-styles in the second half of the 19th century.
