Alexandra Suda to Direct Fine Arts Museum of Canada

In Ottawa, the Fine Arts Museum of Canada is welcoming its new director, Alexandra Suda, formerly a curator in the European Art department of the Ontario Art Gallery, where she had organised several exhibitions of international standing.

She takes over from Marc Mayer, who left in mid-January after ten years of loyal service, and expressed his delighted at this choice in a Tweet: "I can breathe again". The 38-year old holder of a PhD in art history from New York University (who began her career in the medieval section of the Metropolitan Museum) will take up her post on 19 April 2019. This will be her first managerial position.
