A World Record for Romina Ressia

Published on , by Vanessa Schmitz-Grucker

During an online sale at Geneva’s Piguet Auction House from March 2 to 17, the very baroque-looking Bubble Gum an unsigned, non-fine art print by Argentina’s Romina Ressia (b. 1981) marked a turning point in her career by fetching CHF27,500, far outstripping its high estimate of CHF1,500/2,500.

In 2021, a silver 180 x 120 cm/70.86 x 47.24 in print paired with Popcorn , numbered between one and 100, was sold at Piguet for CHF16,250. Ms. Ressia, who is known for her portraits in the Northern Renaissance style, is attached to European influences. She was named best photographer of 2017 by the International Color Awards.
