On August 4th, a Louis XV Provencal chest of drawers went up for sale with the Ivoire Nîmes auction house. A fine example of 18th-century furniture, it features a strongly curved front and sides, two drawers and typical openwork crosspieces (88.5 x 135.5 x 67.5 cm/34.8 x 53.4 x 26.6 in). In molded walnut with ornate jigsaw-cut rocaille and scrolled foliage, the chest of drawers fetched €18,330—indicating a clear upturn of interest in the most beautiful pieces made in Provence at the time.
