With paintings by Cecco di Pietro and the figures by Mino da Fiesole and Giambologna, the whole of Italian Renaissance art is unveiled in Neuilly.

For the fourth year running, the Aguttes auction house chimes in with the European Heritage Days by offering a wide range of artworks, the most remarkable paying tribute to the Italian Renaissance. We go back to its origins with a Madonna and Child from around 1365 attributed to Cecco di Pietro (€150,000/200,000). Although the group is still framed by a Gothic arcature and stands out against a gold background inherited from the Byzantine tradition, perspective has now entered the composition. In addition, the humanisation typical of icon models is evident in Mary's posture, with head bent towards her son as she delicately clasps him. The expression of volume and the psychology of the subjects were developed further by the Sienese Primitives, with first Duccio, then Simone Martini and Ambrogio Lorenzetti, who introduced a new stage.
