Auctioneers are qualified professionals responsible for appraising, estimating and auctioning movable objects. There are two types:
- the voluntary auctioneer who owns or works for an auction house (OVV);
- the judicial auctioneer, who is a ministerial officer organising auctions within a judicial framework (succession, liquidation, seizure, etc.). Reformed by the law of 6 August 2015, this profession will, from 1 July 2022, be merged with that of judicial officer to form a single profession of "commissaire de justice".
