Cruz Herrera began his career painting landscapes, taking his inspiration from Goya, Velasquez and Murillo. Most of his life, however, was spent in Casablanca, Morocco, where he settled permanently in 1939. Like Henri Pontoy and Jacques Majorelle, Morocco and its people were an immense source of inspiration for him.
