Height 46.5 - Width 38.4 cm Monogrammed lower left Inscribed on the back: Js Movlinier . Pt.1812 / exhibited the same year at the Salon du Louvre / under n°667- to his friend Dartis. Provenance: Collection of Laure Pellicer, art history professor and co-editor of the catalog François-Xavier Fabre: de Florence à Montpellier, author of a doctoral thesis on the painter. The equally fanciful name of "Grotte de Neptune" (Neptune's Grotto) must be inspired by the site of the same name in Tivoli.
