[Binding with arms]. ALMANACH ROYAL. Années 1750 et 1760. Paris, Vve d'Houry et Le Breton. Set of 2 volumes in-8, contemporary red and havana morocco, 5-rib spine, gilt title and year, ornate caissons with fleur-de-lys fleuron, boards with coat of arms and decorated with a large gilt plate (different for each volume), gilt roulettes at edges and chasses, gilt and embossed paper endpapers, gilt edges (spine faded, vol. of 1750 has a torn head cap and a split jaw at foot, 2 dull corners; the other has a broken corner glued back). Precious copies of Jean-Bonaventure Le Lay, comte de Guébriant (1705-1768), bearing his coat of arms. Councillor, then President of the Parliament of Paris, he was also a reader in the King's Chamber. Sent as Minister Plenipotentiary to Germany, he was made Grand Cross and Commander of the Order of St. Michael of Bavaria. The calendars in the two volumes are interleaved and have been annotated by the Count. For the year 1750, the notes are sparse; there is mention of two short stays in Germany, the stages of which are indicated day by day. And, on April 26, "j'ay été faire mes révérences à Versailles". For the year 1760, the notes are abundant, one for each day, and deal mainly with dinners at the homes of prestigious guests whose names are mentioned, in particular President Molé. In September and October, we note a stay in and around La Rochelle. There are also a few notes in the margins of the calendar, for example on July 26, "Arrêt du marquis de Choiseul mis à Vincennes". (OHR 494). [Bound in the coat of arms.] ALMANACH ROYAL. Années 1750 et 1760. Paris, Vve d'Houry et Le Breton.
