[METEOROLOGICAL SURVEYS]. LABAT, François de, Chevalier de Vivens (1687-1780) Important meteorological records. 7pp in-8, May, June, July and September 1731, August 1732, 1733, March and August 1734, May and June 1735 as well as August, September, October, November and 1738. Numerous autograph annotations, erasures and corrections; On May 5, 1731, at nine o'clock in the evening, my wife gave birth to a son. My father was the godfather, and he was christened André, like the first. On June 24, there was a terrible storm in the evening, heavy rain accompanied by a very strong wind and mixed with a lot of hail [ ] ; On March 23, 1732, it froze quite hard, there was ice in the afternoon of the same day, and extraordinary snow fell for two or three hours; we hadn't seen so much snow since 1709. It is believed that the frost did not spoil the tree blossoms [ ] ; On January 14, 1733, my father André de Labat died [ ] ; The year 1733 was not abundant in either wine or wheat. At the end of the winter there was an epidemic cold called Folette in Paris, where it wreaked havoc. What is singular about this cold is its universality [ ] ; March 1734, the weather was fine until the end of February. It can be said that only in March was there any mud during the whole winter. We only had five or six days of frost [ ] ; 1735, the beginning of the winter was like the end of autumn and even stormier, on January 19 there was a horrible storm that would have been felt on all the coasts of France, Holland and England [ ] ; 1738, we note that there was no illness throughout the summer. The colds seem to be returning, and there is always a fog, a light vapor in the air [ ] . Important meteorological records. 19 pp in-8 ; Octobre 1742, Juin 1743, Janvier et février 1744, mars, juin et juillet 1745, juillet 1746 ; mars, mai, juin, juillet août, septembre, octobre, novembre et décembre 1747 ; Janvier, mars, avril, juin, juillet, août, octobre, novembre, décembre 1748 ; Février et avril 1749. Autograph annotations, erasures and corrections: On October 8, 1742, at the last quarter of the moon, the tide at Saint Malon was 3 feet higher. There had been a violent storm in about the same direction on the bodies of Naples. According to my diary, very beautiful, the bar. dropped a little & went up [ ] .
