Model 1855 infantry officer's saber
Horn handle with filigree remains. Chased brass mounting, patinated, openwork hilt.
Curved blade with hollow sides and gutter, nicely acid-etched on 2/3 with foliage scrolls and a cartouche in Gothic letters: "La Cie de Sapeurs-pompiers de Château La Vallière à Mr Hurt". Back signed "Giroult à Paris".
Black patinated sheet-iron scabbard with one strap.
Second Empire Early Third Republic period.
