Naval officer's saber Prairial An XII
Fluted ebony spindle. Brass mounting, single-branch columnar hilt. Body knot with anchor on flag background (traces of repair). Quillon with leonine snout.
Blade with flat back and hollow sides, decorated with charging hussars and flower trophies.
Chagrin-covered scabbard with two brass fittings in the pattern. Chappe with mermaid decoration and reed bouterole.
Composite manufacture, post-Empire.
