BRULLE (Henri) - [CORRESPONDANCES]
Reunion of 4 letters from the 1930s from Henri BRULLE to Louis LE BONDIDIER and a letter from Henri BRULLE to one of his friends with his monogrammed stationery.
Henri, Jean, Jacques Brulle (1854-1936) was a French Pyrenean mountaineer.
In 1878, he climbed Ardiden, then Balaïtous, Enfer and Mont Perdu.
On August 12, 1879, Brulle, Bazillac and guides Sarrettes and Bordenave made the first ascent of the Vignemale via the Clot de la Hount, unsuccessfully attempted by Émilien-Sigismond Frossard in 1868.
In 1880, they climbed Pic de Ger, Ossau, Cambalès and Palas via the south face, where they had to give up near the summit. In 1881, with guides Passet and Bordenave, they embarked on a major fourteen-day tour, climbing some twenty summits, including all known 3000s, between Maladeta and Gavarnie. Along the way, they achieved first ascents of Pic du Port d'Oo (now Pic Jean Arlaud), Astazou Occidental and Gabiétou. Finally, they circumnavigated the Gavarnie cirque via the inner tiers, from Les Sarradets to L'Astazou. In 1882, Brulle, Bazillac and Passet climbed 16 major peaks, from Canigou to Vignemale, with two firsts, Comaloforno and Hourgade.
In 1885, he made his winter debut on Mont Perdu with Bazillac, Célestin Passet, Haurine and Bernard.
