[Herbier naturel. Gèdre,1871-75].
In 4 oblong: 179f presenting 65 named plants with date and place of collection, dated circa 1867.
Contemporary red percale, gilt title "Souvenir des Pyrénées" on upper board. A good copy.
Without the BORDÈRE label, but the printed plant labels, mounting and writing leave no doubt as to the author. Herbarium by the famous schoolteacher from Gèdre, who produced numerous copies between 1860 and 1889. The earliest copy dates from 1859-60, this one from 1867. This is the first-generation BORDÈRE. He died at the age of 64 between January and July 1889. Visit to the house and collections of the late botanist Bordère, in Gèdre". La Nature magazine: "Some time ago, an esteemed manBordère died at the age of 64". It mentions the plaque affixed to his house by the Central Pyrenees section of the C.A.F. with the dates "1825-1889".
A few years later, we again find herbariums, this time with an engraved header: "H.S. Bordère, aux Fleurs des Pyrénées". This Bordère grandson was "Botanist-Horticulturist and Mayor of Gèdre".
