This statuette was made in the Trapani region, rich in alabaster quarries and a veritable center for the production of private devotional objects. It depicts an Ecce Homo according to the Passion episode, in which Christ is presented to Pontius Pilate. The base of our statuette, with its characteristic 18th-century scrolls and foliage, also features the Arma Christi motifs that traditionally accompany representations of this Christ-like iconography.
