Ivan Aïvazovsky (1817-1900)

The Colombian artist, whose recumbent obelisk will be on display at La Défense until October 4 on the occasion of the "Extatiques", was selected to carry out a long-term commission for the school's future Parisian campus for 2022. On the program: a series of sculptures and benches designed together with the students.

The modernist sculptor was a leading figure of contemporary art in Croatia. In 1959 he cofounded Gorgona, an influential collective. Kožarić’s exhibition history includes the Venice Biennale (1976), São Paulo Biennale (1979) and a major survey at the Haus der Kunst in Munich organized by Okwui Enwezor (2013). 

With an average age of 40, strict parity and the opening of the residency to curators, the class of 2021 gives pride of place to the visual arts with 5 artists including Ivan Argote and Benoît Maire, while art history and theory are represented by S. Boumediene and J. Pellegrin.

The second in a series, the exhibition is organized by the Foundation, the State Hermitage Museum, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the Tretyakov Gallery. It is scheduled to open on September 22, 2021, uniting 200 masterpieces from the French and Russian collections of the brothers Mikhaïl and Ivan Morozov. 

The museum in the besieged port city of Mariupol, dedicated to 19th-century artist Arkhip Kuindzhi, was destroyed by an airstrike Monday morning, media reports and the head of the Ukrainian Artists' Union said. The collection also houses works by his contemporary Ivan Aivazovsky. 

Recently, the contemporary art gallery inaugurated its new 7534 sq ft space in Calle Barquillo 13, in the very first leather goods workshop of the fashion house Loewe. After an exhibition by Ivan Argote, one of the four finalists for the Marcel Duchamp Prize 2022, the gallery will close for renovation on March 26.

The ADIAF announced live on Instagram the names of the four finalists for the 2022 edition of the Marcel Duchamp Prize. They are Mimosa Echard (born in 1986), Philippe Decrauzat (born in 1974), Giulia Andréani (born in 1985) and Ivan Argote (born in 1983), all artists "very oriented towards painting".
