Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944)

Recently rediscovered and authenticated by Olivier d'Agay, the aviator’s great-nephew, their secret will soon be revealed.

Made in New York in 1942 or early 1943, this watercolour by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is a self-portrait as the Little Prince hanged on planet Earth.

Correspondence between Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the author of The Little Prince, and his wife Consuelo Suncin, were the subject of animosity and, indeed, litigation between the two parties’ heirs. The love letters are now being published, representing the end of a “fruitless legal war.” (Guardian)

As this portrait attests, Léonard Limosin was an enameler to great statesmen and kings, starting with French King, Francis I (r.1515-1547).

Part of the Aristophil Collection will soon go under the hammer at a new series of sales where Boris Vian will be rubbing shoulders with Georges Bizet, Ferdinand Céline, Charlotte Corday and Saint-Exupéry.

Saint Eustache, a masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, is celebrating its 800th anniversary. The church in the historic Les Halles area of Paris has always taken pride in welcoming art, old and new.

An image of Christ by French artist Pascal Convert (b. 1957) has been donated by the Antoine de Galbert Foundation to the Church of Saint-Eustache in the Les Halles neighborhood in central Paris. The glass and charcoal sculpture from 2014 will join the masterpieces of Vouet, Rubens and Pigalle.
