Egyptologist Jean-Pierre Corteggiani Has Passed Away at 79

Awarded the Jean-Edouard Goby Prize in 2001, the specialist of ancient Egypt spent 40 years in Cairo, directing the scientific and technological affairs for the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology until 2007. He brought to light new vestiges of the Alexandria lighthouse, including a statue of Ptolemy II.
