After three months of work, Eugène Delacroix’s Scenes from the massacres at Chios (1824) will return to the museum on February 19; the restoration, funded by a patronage from the Bank of America, involved stripping the large format oil painting of layers of varnish and grime that were giving it a yellowed appearance.
