Perhaps best known for his role as Mindy’s father on the hit TV show Mork & Mindy, Janis was also co-owner of the prominent Sidney Janis Gallery, founded by his parents. Pace founder Arne Glimcher, told the Times, “His knowledge of 20th-century art and Modernism was really encyclopedic.”
