A surprising drawing by Honoré Daumier got a number of collectors excited at the Antoine Aguttes auction rooms on 7 April, with bidders monopolising several telephone lines. Discovered by chance in an attic, the piece offers a reminder of the importance of theatre in the nineteenth century. The public so enjoyed the crime melodramas performed along the Boulevard du Temple of Paris which was nicknamed the Boulevard du Crime.
